(Senior) Data Engineer

About this position

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to contribute to the scaling of our data infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our growing business. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering and enhancing GLSNXT data pipelines and warehouses while focusing on Looker development. This position involves building and maintaining ETL processes, and data models, ensuring data quality, and implementing Looker for data visualization and analytics. As one of the first hires inside our technology organization, all doors are open for personal and professional development – you are in the driver’s seat!

Your responsibilities

Collaborate across functions to scale GLS/NXT data infrastructure
Contribute to the roadmap and development of GLS/NXT data analytics pipeline and data warehouse
Design, build, monitor, and scale data pipelines for Data Warehousing, integrating various data sources and destinations
Develop data models and schemas supporting analytical requirements
Work with other engineering teams to resolve architecture and infrastructure challenges, designing effective solutions
Participate in cross-functional projects supporting data applications and reporting.
Address data quality issues, implementing best practices
Create and maintain comprehensive systems documentation
Implement Looker for data visualization and analytics, including designing Looker models, establishing connections to data sources, creating dashboards and reports, ensuring data quality and consistency

What you need to be successful

Background

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field
5+ years of proven experience in data engineering roles
Expertise in designing, building, monitoring, and scaling data warehousing pipelines
Hands-on experience with modern data engineering platforms such as Apache Spark and Apache Airflow
Proficient in modern data programming languages, including Python and Go
Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS and GCP
Familiarity with data warehousing technologies, including Google BigQuery and Snowflake

Competencies

Proficient in SQL for diverse data sources, with strong data modeling and schema design skills
Looker and LookML expertise for efficient data visualizations and reporting
Agile environment adaptability, thriving in fast-paced settings with quick adaptation to changing priorities
Software development operations management, including CI/CD pipelines, with a solid grasp of agile methodologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
Highly organized, prioritizing tasks and managing projects aligned with business objectives
